I began my life eating the "normal" diet. I can rmember eating the grease from the
meat pan in the kitchen with my father... we would be dipping our white bread into it
and just laughing and enjoying every bite.
I include this bit of information to let you know i truely "loved" all my days of eating
meat. So how is it that i have now been a prodominately RAW FOOD eater for almost 30 years?
I always had a very difficult time with digestion, and though i had clear skin, and
general good health status, i knew something wasn't right. I met my first vegetarian
during the early HIPPI ERA. It was the conversation about the life of the animals that
first got me thinking about leaving the meat behind. It didn't happen for about two or three
more years ...
i ended up on a farm outside Duluth, Minnesota. I moved in with a beautiful "HIPPI" man a
few years older than me. He was an organic gardener who taught me everything about the coop
food movement in Mlps. and how to bake bread and put up veggies etc. He made yogurt and brought
me to a higher level of health ... by the time i went to his farm, i was living on dry roasted
peanuts and coffee and tobacco ...
when i moved in with him, he took me to the food coop in Mpls, brought me to the herb section
and told me i could buy anything i wanted to, so i did!
i was quite shy and had no money of my own, and never asked him to buy me coffee or tobacco.
when i ran out of the coffee, i began to explore the herbal teas and when i ran out of tobacco, i
just stopped smoking ! (there is a bit more to this later!)
